The First Rebellion

When death suddenly struck king Aaron Torn in 1012, Redell turned to the king’s only son Bartol to lead the country. Bartol was not loved by the people of Redell, and his reign certainly did not give them any reason to change their opinion. Even when he became king, there was speculation that he had a hand in the sudden death of his father. Bartol locked up all who publicly expressed their discontent, and had executed all those who were saying he killed his father to get the throne. Fear had spread all over Redell.

The bloodthirsty rule of Bartol Torn remained unchallenged for 7 years, until a dwarf from Tzulgrad decided to put a stop to the madness spreading throughout the land. His name was Mathúin Dolan. Mathúin was a wizard’s apprentice and owner of a smithy. He held a speech in front of a large mass in Tzulgrad, saying that the people should have a right to speak without fear. He was arrested and sentenced to death. Mathúin escaped from prison and with the support and help from the people of Tzulgrad, managed to banish the royal troops away from the city. The news of success in Tzulgrad spread fast through entire Redell. Soon a rebellion broke in Durrin and then in both Tefraria and Gullgin. It was only a matter of time when the rebellion would strike Amuz.

Mathúin has lead his forces into Amuzina, where the king and his army had prepared a trap. The rebel forces were struck in the night, while asleep. The army slaughtered everyone that stood in their way. Only a few days after Mathúin, who was captured alive, was publicly executed in Amuz. The rebellion was over in a little less then 2 months. But the real threat for king Bartol Torn, had only just begun.
